UTTARAKHAND / TEMPLE TRAILS & HIGHER HORIZONS
Chopta.
Tungnath.
Beyond ordinary.
A sacred trail through the Garhwal Himalayas. Mountain light, a stone temple, and the possibility of a little further.
01 / Winter at Tungnath
01 / A JOURNEY WITH A LITTLE SOUL
More than a trek.
A change of pace.
Start in the meadows around Chopta and follow the uphill path toward Tungnath, one of the sacred Panch Kedar temples. Forest edges give way to open slopes, stone steps and a quieter rhythm.
Beyond the temple, Chandrashila is a steeper, optional extension. When access, weather and your preparation allow, it adds an open mountain viewpoint to an already memorable day.
Make it your own: focus on the temple trail, add the summit, or extend the journey with a separate visit to Sari and Deoria Tal.
02 / FOLLOW THE LINE. FIND YOUR MOMENT.
Your trail.
A new perspective.
Turn the landscape, move along the trail and explore each stop. Switch to the road-route view to see the journey into Chopta.

ROAD APPROACH · COMMON RISHIKESH ROUTE
Rishikesh → Devprayag → Srinagar → Rudraprayag → Ukhimath → Chopta
The walking trail begins at Chopta. Deoria Tal is a separate walk approached from Sari.
03 / THREE DAYS, A DIFFERENT RHYTHM
A little adventure.
Room to breathe.
A suggested 3-day plan from Rishikesh. Your pickup, stay, pace and final schedule are confirmed with the team.
Day 01 / Arrive in the mountains.
01The road into the hills.RISHIKESH → CHOPTA REGION
Travel through the Garhwal hills via Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag and Ukhimath toward Chopta. Build in time for mountain roads and a relaxed arrival.
Settle into the agreed accommodation in the Chopta region, stretch your legs nearby and discuss the next day’s route with your team.
02A temple. A higher horizon.CHOPTA → TUNGNATH → OPTIONAL CHANDRASHILA
Follow the uphill trail to Tungnath and pause around the temple area. Darshan depends on the temple’s seasonal opening calendar.
Continue toward Chandrashila only when route access, weather and your preparation allow. Return to Chopta by the same trail; summit completion is never assumed.
03Carry the feeling home.CHOPTA REGION → RISHIKESH
Enjoy a slower morning, check out as agreed and travel back toward Rishikesh. Keep onward travel flexible around mountain road conditions.
Want more time outdoors? Ask about adding an extra day for the Sari–Deoria Tal walk rather than rushing it into the return journey.

05 / PICK YOUR KIND OF MOUNTAIN DAY
Same mountains.
A different mood.
Autumn visibility varies with weather. Winter brings snow and ice, and temple opening dates differ from trail access. Monsoon rain can make paths slippery and disrupt travel. Confirm the current situation before departure.

BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT
Good questions.
Clear answers.
How far is the walk?
Allow roughly 3–3.5 km one way from Chopta to Tungnath, then around 1–1.5 km farther for Chandrashila. The return retraces the trail. Distance estimates vary by measurement and starting point.
Is Chandrashila part of every trip?
It is an optional extension with a steeper ascent. Access, weather, trail conditions and your preparation determine whether it is appropriate on your day.
Can I visit Tungnath in winter?
Winter trail access and temple darshan are separate questions. Snow and ice can change access, while the shrine follows a seasonal opening calendar. Ask for current local conditions and temple opening information before planning.
Can we add Deoria Tal?
Yes, ask us to discuss an extended itinerary. Deoria Tal is approached on foot from Sari and is a separate walk, rather than a stop on the Chopta–Tungnath summit trail.
What is the price and what is included?
Request a current quote for your dates, group size, pickup and accommodation preferences. Confirm meals, transfers, guide services, permits, equipment, exclusions and booking terms with the team.
