THE SANKRI TRAIL / UTTARAKHAND
Kedarkantha.
Chase the
first light.
Forest silence. A mountain lake. Camp nights and a summit morning that stays with you long after the descent.
01 / The first light
01 / FOLLOW THE FOREST. FIND THE LIGHT.
Forest silence.
Summit sunrise.
Kedarkantha brings together the small joys of a mountain journey: the first stretch of forest, the stillness around Juda ka Talab, and the feeling of watching the world open up above camp.
The familiar Sankri route moves through the Govind wildlife landscape toward higher camps and the summit. Snow, daylight and trail conditions shape each day’s pace.
Go for the climb, but leave room for everything around it. A slower evening. A sky full of stars. A little more time outside the everyday.
02 / FOLLOW THE LINE. FIND YOUR MOMENT.

REAL KEDARKANTHA TERRAIN · DRAG OR SCROLL TO EXPLORE
Begin at Sankri. Settle into a steady walking rhythm as the trail rises into the forest.
ROAD APPROACH · A COMMON DEHRADUN ROUTE
Dehradun → Mussoorie → Naugaon → Purola → Mori → Netwar → Sankri
The walking route starts at Sankri. Pickup, road approach and travel timing are confirmed with the team.
03 / SIX DAYS, A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE
A summit to chase.
A journey to keep.
A suggested 6-day Dehradun-return plan. Dates, walking stages, camps and transport are confirmed for your group.
Day 01 / Arrive in Sankri.
01The road into another rhythm.DEHRADUN → SANKRI
Travel to Sankri and settle into the accommodation agreed with the team. Let the mountain road set a slower pace.
Use the evening to sort your layers, check the plan and prepare for the first walking day.
02Forest paths. A quieter lake.SANKRI → JUDA KA TALAB AREA
Walk uphill toward Juda ka Talab through the forest. Pause often enough to enjoy the way, rather than treating the lake as a finish line.
Your overnight location follows the designated campsite and arrangements confirmed for the group.
03A little higher. A little wider.JUDA KA TALAB AREA → BASE CAMP
Continue toward the Kedarkantha base-camp area. Forest gives way to a more open mountain setting as the journey gains height.
Rest, organise your daypack and discuss the summit-day plan. The guide and current conditions determine the schedule.
04Work for the first light.BASE CAMP → SUMMIT ATTEMPT → LOWER CAMP
Start according to the team’s plan and attempt the summit only when conditions and preparation allow. The climb is more demanding than the earlier walking days.
Descend to the lower camp agreed for the trip, often in the Hargaon area. A summit is a possibility, never a promise.
05Back through the forest.LOWER CAMP → SANKRI
Descend toward Sankri on the route confirmed for your group. Trade the higher slopes for the familiar rhythm of the forest.
Settle back into the village and leave time to rest before the return drive.
06Carry the feeling home.SANKRI → DEHRADUN
Travel back toward Dehradun. Leave onward connections flexible around mountain road conditions and the agreed drop-off point.
The climb ends, but a little of that open mountain feeling tends to travel with you.

Clear answers.
Which route does this page describe?
The familiar Sankri approach via Juda ka Talab and the base-camp area toward Kedarkantha summit. Your team confirms the ascent, descent and designated camps for the departure.
How many days should I keep?
This page suggests six days from Dehradun and back, including the road journeys. Confirm the exact schedule and leave room for changes in the mountains.
